Overview

A complimentary online course for Instructors educating them on how to create an inclusive learning environment and how to foster a space where all participants feel valued. The Instructor Inclusion Training: Creating an Inclusive Learning Environment online course is intended to equip Training Services instructors, instructor trainers and instructor educators with the knowledge, skills and tools to support and promote the Red Cross mission and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the communities they serve by creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment and facilitating suitable accommodations to meet course objectives as necessary in all training.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the Red Cross’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and demonstrate this commitment when delivering Red Cross training.
  2. Create an inclusive classroom environment by incorporating DEI concepts.
  3. Identify and challenge their own unconscious bias and increase their sensitivity awareness to deliver more inclusive training.
  4. Understand how the course level (basic versus instructor/instructor trainer) may affect acceptable accommodations that can be made to allow a participant to achieve certification.
  5. Describe options for participation in American Red Cross training courses when certification is not attainable.
  6. Employ a methodical approach to identifying accommodations that will allow a participant to achieve training objectives to the greatest extent possible.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, American Red Cross is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

This CE activity is accredited for 1.0 Educator CEH by The American Red Cross, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 1.0 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.
