Overview

The online Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) Instructor Bridge is designed to allow instructors currently certified with approved, equivalent training organizations to become certified as American Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support instructors.

Candidates must meet course prerequisites and upload qualifying credentials to complete the training and earn American Red Cross NALS instructor certification. Upon approval, candidates will complete the online components of the NALS Comprehensive course and the Instructor Bridge. Instructor candidates who successfully complete the online sessions will receive an American Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support Instructor certification that is valid for two years.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Examine the role and responsibilities of the Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) Instructor.
  2. Prepare for course delivery, utilizing various teaching methods and administrative resources to deliver high-quality standardized education.
  3. Evaluate participant performance, providing feedback consistent with standardized Red Cross assessment tools to optimize NALS outcomes.
  4. Apply course content and curriculum materials to facilitate active learning by the healthcare team.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, American Red Cross is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

This CE activity is accredited for 6 Educator CEH by The American Red Cross, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education.

 

Credit designations:

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 6 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.

CME (Physicians):

American Red Cross designates this enduring material for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The CME credits that physicians earn from this activity will be submitted to ACCME’s CME Passport, a free, centralized web application where you can create a personalized account to view, track, and generate transcripts of your reported CME credit.  View www.cmepassport.org to create your account.

NCPD (Nursing):

The maximum number of hours awarded for this Nursing Continuing Professional Development activity is 6 contact hours.

AAPA (Physician Associates):

American Red Cross has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria.  This activity is designated for 6 AAPA Category 1 Credits.  Approval is valid until 1/27/2028.  PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

CAPCE (Pre-hospital EMS):

This CE activity is accredited for 6 Educator CEH by The American Red Cross, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education.

Acceptance of credit hours by licensing or certification boards is not implied

For CE credit:

In order to receive continuing education credit, participants must read the Instructor Manual, pass assessments with an overall minimum score of 84% and complete the course evaluation.

Please allow 6 hours to complete the required reading and e-Learning component in this activity and the corresponding Post-Test and Evaluation that follow.

CAPCE Disclaimer for Advanced Practice Activities:

Advanced practice activities such as critical care, community paramedic, flight paramedic etc., the content of which does not fall within the current Standards of Practice levels, may be CAPCE accredited. Because some states and NREMT may not accept all of these activities for license renewal or recertification, participants must contact their state EMS and/or NREMT to verify acceptance for recertification or relicensing.
