Overview
The purpose of the Emergency Medical Response Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response (EMR) course. Instructor candidates who successfully complete this instructor course will receiving an American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response Instructor certification that makes them eligible to teach the EMR course for two years.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Exhibit the characteristics required of an American Red Cross representative and role model.
  2. Successfully perform skills at an appropriate skill level.
  3. Conduct courses in a manner that helps participants stay engaged in the learning process
  4. Perform applicable first aid, CPR and AED skills at the emergency medical responder (EMR) level.
  5. Ensure participant health and safety during training.
  6. Maintain complete and accurate records and reports.
  7. Monitor participants' practice and provide positive, corrective feedback and encouragement consistent with the skill charts and skill checklists.
  8. Recognize that the requirements in the skill checklists are criteria for ascertaining the competency of a participant's performance.

Accreditation

This CE activity is accredited for 12.0 Educator CEH by The American Red Cross, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education.

I understand that the American Red Cross as a requirement of CAPCE accreditation will submit a record of my course completions to the CAPCE AMS. I further understand that my course completion records may be accessed by or shared with such regulators as state EMS offices, training officers, and NREMT on a password-protected need-to-know basis. In addition, I understand that I may review my record of CAPCE accredited course completions by contacting CAPCE.
